Registration of New Employers and Mathadi Workers

  • As per Clause 14 of the Board Scheme, where the scheme is applicable, it is mandatory for employers to get registered with the concerned Mathadi Board. Similarly, as per Clause 15 of the Scheme, workers engaged in Mathadi-type work within the jurisdiction of the Board must also be registered.
  • If Mathadi-type work is found to be carried out in any establishment, the Board’s Inspector visits the premises, conducts interviews of the Mathadi workers engaged there, and issues an inspection report/instructions to the concerned employer regarding registration.
  • Thereafter, upon receipt of the employer’s registration application and the registration applications of the workers employed in the establishment, the Inspector scrutinizes the applications.
  • Along with the employer’s application, it is verified that the prescribed registration fee has been submitted in the form of a demand draft in favour of the Board. It is also ensured that the establishment is registered under at least one of the applicable laws, such as the Shops and Establishments Act, the Factories Act, or the Motor Transport Act.
  • In the case of workers, it is verified that the registration application is accompanied by proof of date of birth and a police verification certificate.
  • After completion of all verifications, the employer and the workers are formally registered with the Board.
  • A registration fee of ₹25 to ₹500 is collected from the employer against a receipt. Similarly, a registration fee of ₹1 to ₹25 is collected from each worker, and both employers and workers are registered with the Board.
  • The registered workers are allotted a gang number and are assigned to work with the registered employer.
