To formulate essential policies, programmes, plans, and projects for all organized and unorganized sectors, with a focus on economic participation, social welfare, and occupational safety and health. The Department also aims to regulate working hours and conditions, implement welfare initiatives to improve the standard of living of workers, eliminate child labour from hazardous occupations and processes, and ensure the effective enforcement of labour laws.
