Maharashtra notifies State Rules under new Labour Codes

The Government of India has launched the new Labour Codes with effect from 21.12.2025 and thereafter notified the Central Draft Rules on 30.12.2026, directing all State Governments to frame, publish, and notify their respective State Rules for effective implementation of the said Codes. In compliance with the above directions, the Labour Department, Government of Maharashtra, has been in the process of framing the State Rules under the Labour Codes. Accordingly, the Labour Department has now framed and notified the Maharashtra Code on Wages Rules and the Maharashtra Industrial Relations Code Rules, which have been published in the Maharashtra Government Gazette dated 28.04.2026.

In order to ensure a consultative and transparent rule making process, all stakeholders are hereby requested to examine the aforesaid State Rules and submit their inputs, suggestions, and feedback within a period of 45 days from the date of Gazette publication, i.e., on or before 12.06.2026. Please note that any objections and suggestions received after the stipulated deadline will not be considered.
